CORRIGENDUM OF CGEGIS TABLES 2012

New Delhi, May 10, 2012(PIB): Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance’s Memorandum of even no. dated 24th April, 2012, attached the Tables of Benefits for the savings fund of the Scheme for the year 2012 based on a subscription of Rs.10 per month from 1.1.1982 to 31.12.1989 and Rs.15 per month w.e.f. 1.1.1990 on wards and table of benefits based on a subscription of Rs 10/-p.m throughout. 

Owing to certain inadvertent error in the tables dated 24th April, 2012, the revised and corrected tables are issued vide No.7(l)/EV/2012 dated May 9, 2012 which is placed below. The earlier tables circulated with the OM under reference have been cancelled and accordingly, its have been withdrawn.
The payments already made on the basis of earlier tables may be revised in accordance with the revised and corrected tables given below. Excess payment made, if any, should be recovered.

Shri Sibal said this while inaugurating the two day annual conference of Heads of Circle of the Department of Posts.
During the 2-day event, discussions will focus around the challenges being faced by India Post in the 21sth Century. India Post is faced with the twin challenges of induction of various modes of technology in communication and also the proliferation of couriers on the other.

Yearlong Joint Indo-Bangla Celebrations to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore concludes in New Delhi
The year-long joint Indo-Bangladesh celebrations to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore concluded here today with the closing ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan. The Vice-President of India Shri M. Hamid Ansari addressed the gathering as the Chief Guest on the occasion. The Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Dr. Dipu Moni represented her country on the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Finance Minister and Chairman, National Implementation Committee Shri Pranab Mukherjee and Culture and Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister Kumari Selja also attended the hour-long function. Several dignitaries including Governors, Ambassadors and High Commissioners of foreign countries in New Delhi were also present on the occasion.
The year-long joint celebrations witnessed elaborate programmes on the multi faceted genius Tagore- a poet, writer, painter, musician and philosopher par excellence. Exhibitions of Rabindranath’s paintings, musical soirees, seminars, workshops, release of commemorative publications and coins and joint productions and performances of dances and dramas, based on the stories and songs written by Rabindranath, were organized both in India and Bangladesh as part of the celebrations. Several cultural and literary personalities of the two countries participated in the events organized in both the countries.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice President Shri M. Hamid Ansari has said that Rabindranath Tagore was a multifaceted genius whose creativity spanned every form of artistic expression. His concerns ranged from global and universalist ones to practical and mundane issues. He established institutions to reflect his vision and through his travels, writings and actions demonstrated that the international brotherhood of man was not merely a theoretical construct.
Shri Ansari said that Gurudev believed that national and human identities inherent in us need not be contradictory and that promoting one’s culture should not preclude acceptance and respect for the culture of others.
He said, Tagore heralded the cultural rapprochement between communities, societies and nations much before it became the liberal norm of conduct
Shri Ansari said, it is indeed of enduring significance that the governments and peoples of Bangladesh and India have chosen such an occasion to renew their bonds of friendship and reaffirm their commitment to our shared cultural heritage and intellectual ethos.
Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Dipu Moni in her address said that Rabindranath Tagore belonged to the world and the joint commemoration of his 150th Birth Anniversary by Bangladesh and India is a joint tribute by both the countries to the great poet and philosopher. She said her country will celebrate the 100th year of Tagore getting the Nobel Prize for Gitanjali next year.
The Finance Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee in his speech described Gurudev as international cultural icon. He said, Bangladesh has wholeheartedly participated in the joint commemorations. The reservation policy for Ex-servicemen is implemented by the concerned Government/Departments, Public Sector Undertakings and Banks. It is the responsibility of the concerned organization to implement the same. Since applying for Government jobs by Ex- Servicemen is voluntary, data in this regard is not maintained

Linking of GPF Interest Rates With EPFO
The rates of interest on General Provident Fund (GPF) is 8% for the period from 1.4.2011 to 30.11.2011 and 8.6% from 1.12.2011 to 31.3.2012, whereas the rate of interest on EPF for the financial year 2011-12 is 8.25%. Rate of interest on EPF is fixed on the recommendation of the Central Board of Trustees (CBT) by the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Ministry of Labour and Employment based on the income earned on the accumulated fund during the financial year. However, rate of interest on GPF is generally fixed after taking into consideration the average secondary market yields on government securities of similar maturity.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Finance, Shri Namo Narain Meena in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.

Providers; PFRDA takes Important Step towards Providing an Exit Route to the Subscribers
Subscribers to the National Pension System (NPS) will now have a choice of Annuity Service Providers, from whom they can choose their annuity schemes on their exit from NPS on attainment of 60 years of age. Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has empanelled the following six IRDA approved life insurance companies for providing annuity services to the subscribers of National Pension System (NPS).

More activities coming under MGNREGS

The Centre will include a number of additional activities in the work schedule of its flagship programme MGNREGS, Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh said here on Saturday. "On Tuesday [May 8], I will announce a major expansion of the activities taken up by MGNREGS on the floor of the House," Mr. Ramesh told journalists.
He said inclusion of new activities would boost the performance of the scheme.
An expert committee, headed by Planning Commission member Mihir Shah, had submitted a report in February this year, suggesting a new set of operational guidelines for MGNREGS.
The committee has recommended inclusion of a number of activities under the scheme, which has been accepted by the Ministry.

RTI Facilities to NRI

The Right to Information (Regulation of Fee & Cost) Rules, 2005 provides that a request for obtaining information should be accompanied by an application fee of rupes ten by way of cash against proper receipt or by demand draft or bankers cheque or Indian Postal Order payable to the Accounts Officer of the public authority.

In order to facilitate filing of RTI applications in Central Government public authorities by Indians living abroad, the Central Government has ‘in-principle’ agreed to start sale of Indian Postal Orders through internet on payment in foreign currency.

This was stated by Shri V. Narayanasamy, Minister of State of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension and Prime Minister Office in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.

New Delhi, May  1, 2012:   All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) on base 2001=100 for the month of March, 2012 increased by 2 points and stood at 201 (two hundred one).
During March, 2012, the index recorded maximum increase of 7 points each in Bhilwara,Vijaywada  and  Salem centres, 6 points each in Belgaum, Ajmer, Ghaziabad and Mundakkayam centres, 5 points in 3centres, 4 points in 6 centres, 3 points in 12 centres, 2 points in 19 centres and 1 point in 19 centres. The index decreased by 2 points in Tripura centre and 1 point each in Darjeeling, Sholapur and Puducherry centres, while in the remaining 8centres the index remained stationary.

TRAI Launches Telecom Consumers Complaint Monitoring System

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India ( TRAI) today launched a facility to monitor complaints from telecom consumers.

 Called Telecom Consumers Complaint Monitoring System (TCCMS) portal www.tccms.gov.in  , it would facilitate the telecom consumers  in locating the “Consumer Care Number”, “General Information Number” and contact details of the complaint centre and Appellate Authority of their service provider. The portal would also help access the website of their service provider’s complaint monitoring portal to track the current status of their complaints or appeals lodged with their service provider complaint centre or Appellate Authority.


This portal will also help TRAI in monitoring the status of redressal of complaints lodged by the consumers with the service providers.  It is felt that this portal will help enhance the effectiveness of the grievance redressalmechanism.

Radiation Tags for Cell Phones


All cell-phones would soon be carrying radiation tags. All the indigenous manufacturers have been instructed to display Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) value on the mobile handsets on or before 1st September 2012. 

Giving details in Rajya Sabha on Friday, the Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Sh Milind Deora said the Department of Telecommunications has adopted SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) level for mobile handsets as 1.6 Watt/Kg, averaged over a mass of 1 gram of human tissue. On 25th January 2012, all the indigenous manufacturers have been instructed to make necessary changes in the design, software and packaging in compliance with these instructions by 01.09.2012. 

Shri Deora said, to regulate indigenous as well as imported mobile phones, Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) has been requested to frame standards for all mobile phones under the BIS Act 1986. All cell phone handsets sold in the marked in India will comply with relevant Bureau of Indian Standard’s (BIS) benchmark.

ESI Hospitals

     The Union Labour & Employment Minister Shri Mallikarjun Kharge has informed the Lok  Sabha  that the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has proposed to set up more ESIC Hospitals in the country including in Odisha. Details are Annexed.
                                The land has been allotted by the State Government of Odisha for construction of ESI Hospitals at Angul&Duburi.  At Angul, the process for possession of land is under way. At Duburi, Jajpur, land has been acquired by the ESI Corporation for setting up a hospital. 
                The hospitals at Angul and Duburi would be operationalzed after the infrastructure is in place.
                                                The Minister was replying to a written whether the  Government has decided to set up more ESI hospitals in the country including Bhubaneshwar.
