Microsoft to unveil test version of Windows 8
Microsoft Corp unveils the first widely available test version of Windows 8 on Wednesday, giving the public the first chance to try out the slick, new-look operating system it hopes will restore the company's fading tech supremacy.
Windows 8, as the first Microsoft operating system compatible with low-power microprocessors designed by ARM Holdings Plc, will run on tablets as well as desktops and laptops.
"The operating system has begun to be seen as largely irrelevant," said Sid Parakh, an analyst at fund firm McAdams Wright Ragen, which holds Microsoft shares. "This is the release that will have to prove its relevance all over again."

Apple to launch iPad 3 on March 7
"We have something you really have to see. And touch," Apple said today in an invitation, which features a picture of an iPad screen. The new device will sport a high-definition display, run a faster processor and work with speedier wireless networks, people familiar with the product said last month.
After pioneering the tablet market two years ago, Apple is counting on the new model to beat back competition from newer devices running Google Inc's Android software. The company has sold more than 55 million iPads, generating at least $34.5 billion in revenue. Amazon.com Inc's Kindle Fire, which uses Android, emerged as the iPad's biggest rival over the holiday shopping season last year.

Go digital, get disciplined
One of the things we have been told to lead an organised life is to ‘have a diary' with us. There are two ways of using a diary. One is to write out our thoughts and also what we did each day, so that at some point of time, we can analyse our actions.
There is another and more important aspect of having a diary — keeping track of appointments and things to do. Carrying a diary around is a great habit, but when everything is becoming digital, why not the humble diary?

Installing Active Directory(Domain) in Windows Server 2008
Installing Active Directory Domain Services (AD-DS)
In Windows Server 2008, unlike previous server operating Systems, there is an additional step that needs to be taken before running DCPROMO to promote the server to Domain Controller and installing Active Directory on it. This step is the installation of Active Directory Domain Services (AD-DS) role on the server. In fact, the AD-DS role is what enables the server to act as a Domain Controller, but you will still need to run DCPROMO the regular way.
AD-DS can be installed in one of 3 methods:

Google glasses to stream info directly to eyes
It sounds like something out of a science fiction novel. Search engine
giant Google is developing a pair of electronic glasses that can stream
information directly to the user’s eyes in real time.
The glasses, to be launched by the end of the year, will be more like
smartphones with the lenses serving as a kind of see-through computer
monitor.
Loaded with a low-resolution, built-in camera, the Google glasses “will
be able to monitor the world in real time and overlay information about
locations, surrounding buildings and friends who might be nearby,” a New York Times report said.

Bench warns Centre against filing appeals beyond period of limitation
The
Supreme Court on Friday warned the Union government and its departments
that bureaucratic delays could not be cited as an excuse or a ground
for filing appeals beyond the period of limitation of 90 days.
A
Bench of Justices P. Sathasivam and J. Chelamesar said: “the law of
limitation undoubtedly binds everybody, including the government. The
claim on account of impersonal machinery and inherited bureaucratic
methodology of making several notes cannot be accepted in view of the
modern technologies being used and available.”

What are RAID controllers?
Definition: A RAID controller is a hardware device responsible for
managing physical drives in a system and presenting them to the computer as
logical units.
The setting up of RAID 0 and RAID 1 can be done either via software or hardware. Some operating systems allow you to setup RAID in the software itself. A better option is to have a dedicated piece of hardware controlling the RAID functions. A guide to software RAID in Linux.
RAID controller chips are often imbedded in the motherboard. They also come in the form of a PCI expansion cards.
Hardware RAID You need to ensure that the RAID controller card is designed for the type of hard disks you are using. A RAID controller card designed for use with IDE hard disks will not take SCSI hard disks. A controller designed to provide just RAID 0 functions will not allow you to set up a fault tolerant array.

Difference Between SATA and IDE Harddisk
From the beginning of the computer era,
the storage medium has been constantly evolving. From the floppy disks
to the hard disk, their capacity has grown exponentially over the last
few decades. But with the ever increasing capacities, new technologies
should also be invented to cope up with the need to transfer large
quantities of data as quickly as possible. This quest has lead to the
transformation from Parallel ATA (also known as IDE) to Serial ATA.
At first sight, you would not notice the
difference between a PATA and a SATA disk. The main visual difference
appears when you connect them to the motherboard. A PATA disk uses an 80
pin ribbon that is about 3-4 inches wide while the SATA disk uses a 7
pin cable that is less than an inch wide. This allowed for a cleaner
cable arrangement inside the case.

What is the difference between DDR3, DDR2, DDR, and SDRAM?
Most desktops and notebooks use one of four popular types of dynamic random access memory (DRAM) for the main system memory.
Single data rate (SDR) SDRAM is the older type of memory, commonly used in computers prior to 2002.
Double data rate (DDR) SDRAM hit the mainstream computer market around 2002 and is a straightforward evolution from SDR SDRAM. The most significant difference between DDR and SDR is that DDR reads data on both the rising and falling edges of the clock signal, enabling a DDR memory module to transfer data twice as fast as an SDR memory module.

Comparison between Cat5,Cat5e and Cat6 network cables
- Cat 5: Out of the three types of cable we’ll be discussing, Category 5 is the most basic. Cat 5 cable is available in two varieties: Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP), the type widely used in the United States, and Screened Twisted Pair (SCTP), which has shielding to provide a measure of extra protection against interference, but is rarely used outside of Europe. Cables belonging to Category 5 are either solid or stranded: Solid Cat 5 is more rigid, and the better choice if data needs to be transmitted over a long distance, while Stranded Cat 5 is very flexible and most likely to be used as patch cable. CONSIDERATATION
OF COMPASSIONATE ENGAGEMENT ON GDS POSTS TO DEPANDANTS OF GRAMIN DAK
SEVAKS DISCHARGED ON MEDICAL GROUNDS BASED ON PROOF OF INVALIDATION
PRIOR TO 14.12.2010
A
reference is invited to Para 7(d) of this Directorate letter No.
17-17/2010-GDS dated 14.12.2010 wherein it was provided that "this
percentage of 10% shall only apply to cover cases of wards of deceased
GDS and not to GDS acquiring disability during service defined in the
Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995. Section 47 of the Persons with
Disabilities Act, 1995 provides that no establishment shall dispense
with or reduce in rank an employee who acquires a disability during his
service as also no promotion shall be denied to a person merely on the
ground of his disability. In case of a GDS acquiring a disability during
his service and is considered to be unsuitable for the GDS post he was

now been decided to allow considering compassionate engagement to one of
the words of invalidated GDS discharged before the date of issue of
this Directorate letter No. 17-17/2010-GDS dated 14.12.2010 on
consideration of the indigent condition of the family taking recourse to
the application of the same provisions of compassionate engagement and
process as were in force at the time of discharge of the GDS on
invalidation, without a further reference to this Directorate.
3. It
is, however, clarified once again that the provision contained in Para 7
(d) of this Directorate letter No. 17-17/2010-GDS dated 14.12.2010 as
amended may be observed scrupulously and no GDS is allowed to be
discharged on invalidation observing the provisions of Section 47 of the
Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995. In case a GDS acquires a
disability during his service and is considered to be unsuitable for the
GDS post he was holding, he/she may be shifted to some other post with
the same TRCA. If at all some genuine difficulty arises about the nature
of work to be extracted from him and the concerned HOC is personally
convinced of the grounds in individual cases, the Circles may take up
the issue of appropriate cases with the Training Division of this
Directorate.
4. The
instructions contained in Para 7(d) of this Directorate letter No.
17-17/2010-GDS dated 14.12.2010 & the present instructions would
cover the cases of the GDS where a GDS was permitted to be discharged
